A Letter to President Obama
Dear President Obama:
I pay a lot of money each month for my health insurance, not only to cover myself but my family as well. We deal with our insurance company on a daily basis fighting to get things approved to get the medical attention my Son needs. There hasn’t been a single request that HASN’T been denied by the insurance company, so forgive me for saying “I don’t give a shit” about this awful bill you put in front of Congress.
I believe that everyone should have insurance, that would be wonderful, but why not start with the people who work hard and pay their bills every month, yet still can’t get the coverage and support they need? Spending a month in the NICU with my Son really opened my eyes to the injustice of the insurance system. The people who didn’t have insurance we’re the ones getting the best care, while the people who did have insurance we’re battling every step-of-the-way.
At the end-of-the-day, I’m going to end up paying more in taxes for the same people that are already getting better treatment without insurance, while I’m left shelling out more money for coverage that doesn’t exist. If you want to overhaul health care, do it, just do it right. This isn’t it.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Breeden
