As Good as Gold!
It’s not everyday you get to hold an Olympic Gold Medal so you can imagine my excitement to see Reid’s medal from Beijing. We had a great time at his house hearing all the awesome stories about Beijing and their journey to gold.

My first impression of the medal is that it’s heavy. Reid was telling me that on the back side there is a ring of jade on the inside. The design is beautiful and I was amazed at the detail.

Besides volleyball, I really enjoy playing Golf. I try to get out once every two weeks if not more and I usually shoot somewhere in the 90’s. I’m terrible on the front nine and shoot really well on the back nine, but I just can’t seem to break this habit yet. My neighbor Zimm was kind enough to invite me to play golf at Lost Canyon’s out in Simi Valley on Friday. Thursday, I decided to go purchase a new Odyssey Two Ball Putter which I named Geraldine. She didn’t help me much, I shot a 92, but I struck the ball well and the course was beautiful. Here’s a pic from Lost Canyon.

Why is this date so important? Well, it was my first time sitting in first class. My Dad and I were returning from seeing the World Expo in Brisbane Australia after two weeks. Our flight out of Sydney on United Airlines had an equipment change from a 747-200 to a 747-SP and because of my Dad’s status, we we’re bumped up to first class.
My Dad kept the menu from our trip in first class and put a travel journal together for me. I was going through it last night and decided to scan it in. It was much different flying back then as compared to now. United Airlines spared no expense to make sure their passengers had the best the friendly skies had to offer. I just wish I was old enough to enjoy the fantastic wine list! Click on the image below to view the menu from our flight.
