Freelance Vs. Full-time
It’s always a fantastic topic of conversation amongst designers; freelance or take a full-time gig. There are great advantages to both, and I have personally had success in both realms. Take for instance my friend Angela, she spends part of her time in Madrid freelancing there. Clients love it because she works on opposite hours so when they send a change out in the early afternoon/evening, it’s ready by the morning.
The flip side of this, however, is not having a steady income or benefits. That is fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, is where I currently find myself at. I’d love to freelance, and I have enough clients to “get by” as they say, but ultimately I need the security and benefits of a full-time job.
I heard on the radio that you need to send nine resume’s to get one reply. Awesome. I seem to be getting a pretty good response thus far, we shall see. I just hope I don’t end up counting the days like my friend @bobschwartz. His was, of course, 100+ days without a car not a job, but let’s not hit that number.
